I've seen free templates you've mentioned. They really deserve our attention. It's nice that these templates are for different businesses. A lot of people will make a good use of them.

Nice stuff there but the restrictions for use suck. Apart from not removing their link there's also this:
Upon our privacy policy you are not allowed to use our Free Website Templates for anything except creating your own site and practicing template customization.Call me ultra picky but when they say FREE I want totally FREE.
Just like here at FWT!! :D :D

Well, people do their job and would like to have their link on site...agree that it is never excess. And you know that there is always free cheese in a mouse trap. For this big company like FWT its not this big deal, but for them it matters! :)

By the way, do FWT put their link on their templates??? I think they also put it.
As for what to do with template...what else would you, CovertPea (http://www.freewebsitetemplates.com/forum/member.php?u=27552), want to do with template??? resell it??? :)

Taken from an FWT template:
You can remove any link to our websites from this template you're free to use the template without linking back to us.Would I want to resell a template? You're asking the wrong person. I don't use templates. I'm just the graphics lady.
My post was not about their templates Chicco, it's that FREE word proceeding it that bugs me.

Once again...
Call me ultra picky but when they say FREE I want totally FREE.
Just like here at FWT!! :D :DAin't it great to know that not every free hunk o' cheese on the big www has a trap attached!?

:)
you are absolutely right.
I just dont see any difference if there is a link back or no...:)
You have a great template design, which links back to creator...
May be they should have written "free of charge"...then it would not "bug you" ? :)

When there's no link back there's an illusion that the owner of the site is the creator, no one's gonna check the source of the template, there are so many of them on the net, if you can have free templates without any link back and the design doesn't really matter, then you can get what you want, but if you are interested in the particular design than you have to compromize either accept the terms of use of even pay, if it's a paid product
