Default Please help with a Soccer Crest

I am looking for someone who can help me to make a soccer crest for a local soccer club, we are currently in a amateur league and we really like add some identity to the club.

We live in a petroleum bussines city, and we usually play close to the oilfields, so we like to add some themes about that, also we are looking for something that represents unity over a couple of foreings citys (I was thinking on fit a small map from our city on it).
Finally I was tryng to put a small ribbon wrapping the rest and the name of the club on the ribbon.

Club Name: Inter Colonias
Uniform Colors: Jersey (Blue) Short (Black)
Crest Colors: I appreciate your help to find the best colors to fit the Jersey
Crest Font: Hoffmann Regular

I attach a small map from the region we live, and some well know crest we like our crest look like.

This is the jersey

I really Like the shape of this crest

Another Good one form the USA Soccer Team.

This is the region where we live.

Thaks in advance

Regards

Oilfields? Help me out here, what kind of graphic would represent an oil field?

Basically, you want an oil field graphic and that map as the elements on the shield, with the club name on a ribbon banner near the bottom?

As for colours, a similar blue to the jersey with white and deep red trim should work.

First off all thanks for your fast reply, and second you got the idea, your description of the design is what I was thinking of (a shield with the map and a ribbon banner in the bottom like is embracing the shield)

my idea of a Oilfield is a Drilling Rig, or a off-shore platform, I put a Picture, and something I forgot to mention is that I am planing on embroider the crest on the jersey.

this is the graph for a Drilling Rig

And and oilfield pump could work too.

Thanks For Your help,

Regards

How about this?
(The original is much more vivid in colour and larger than the example posted.)

I like this crest, and also the colors, but I actually paste the crest on the Jersey and I am afraid that the crest could not be seen from afar due to the colors combination.

I do not if is to much to ask but also I like your help to put a Drilling Rig instead of the pump, (I just want to see how it fits to chose one or another)

I put a better picture of a drilling rig, and for the colors, I tried a White background and looks Ok, but because the borders and the ribbon uses white too, kinda looks out of place. So I like you help me with some directions to fix this. (either change the borders colors to overcome the color of the Jersey, or change the colors to fit a background color to white).

I think this Rig is better, the oil splashed out of the rig kinda sucks tough

With some alterations and an idea of how it would look on the shirt.
To be honest, your choice of font does little to clearly display your team name.

this is a lot better,

I chose this one, sure white borders helps to fit in the jersey and the rig looks better.
I have a doubt about your comment of the font, do you think the font does not help the crest design? witch one do you recommend?. I really appreciate if you could recommend a couple of fonts so I can check witch one is better, but I think I can do that myself, so If you just allowme to use your desing to put in our club jerseys, that be fine.

You sure are very skillfull, I will use this crest for the next season.

thank you for your help,

Regards

Those odd shaped fonts look okay for some projects. They have their place, but IMHO, not on crests.
Think of your crest as an advertising logo. You want the colours to compliment each other and the line work/associated elements to be crisp and clear so each is easily recognisable.

Take a look at the above crest and most others you see.
You've got your 2 or 3 colours.
A fancy shaped double outlined shield.
A couple of elements (in your case, the oil rig and map)
And lastly, a huge ribbon with curled tails right across the middle of the entire thing.

That's a whole lotta detail to take in to begin with before you go adding a hard to read, oddly shaped text for the team's name.

To compliment all those elaborate details always use a simple font (in upper-case) such as Arial / Century Gothic / Tahoma or even Verdana as in this post.

I can give you the crest as is, minus the team name and you can play around with it to see which font 'fits' better in your eyes.

Just as an example, check the clarity of the two different fonts.

I agree with boemboem, indeed your explanation give me and idea of what you where talking about, I have very limited skill using photoshop, but it will take me a lot of years get the quality of that design but you with the small information I provide in a few minutes create a crest that is exactly what was looking for, very talented indeed.

As you says I will follow your indications and play with the fonts a while until a get a font that looks better. I really appreciate if you could give me a copy off the crest in PSD format so I can try another types of fonts.
