Default Getting my menus to show up...

Hi! I have a question concerning menus. I figured out to download templates into my web-editing program. I understand how to download the images, but when it comes to downloading the css/html I have a few questions. I was able to enter the code into my program and when I previewed it online it showed up as text and underlined links. What I don't understand is how do I get the rollover and drop-down menus that I see on my template?

Thanks for any advice you have to offer!!

Could you tell us which template you are using so we can look at it?
Which web-editing program are you using?
The templates are zipped up (compressed for smaller size).
Downloading is done only once.
You download the zip file to your pc, unzip it to a directory and then open the files you need to work on from there.

I was playing around with a template from freecsstemplates.org: http://www.freecsstemplates.org/preview/blogging
and also tried to use the menus from http://www.free-css.com/free-css-menus/page1.php

I am using Print Shop's Web Designer, but I also have Kompozer. And I use Paint.net to design/edit graphics.

I already unzipped the files. I was just a little confused because I didn't know how to make a rollover/drop-down menu like the css templates that I saw. I thought you just downloaded the template and everything was done and ready for use...but now I realize I have to play around with it and manipulate it a little bit.

I also figured out that I could just add menu boxes/buttons in my image and just put a link over them when I design my pages. Is it ok to do this?
The page I am working on is http://www.themiddleburychapel.com.

I am no expert, so if I am wrong, please correct and give advice! Thank you for all your help.

1st - PSWD is designed as a stand alone program. You can use it to create simple sites, but if you are going to try to work outside it's structure, you had better really know the various programming languages or you will have a nightmare.

Both of these are editors for an intended purpose. If you are going to mix/ use ideas from different templates then these two editors are what you use.

The only time they are completely ready to use is if you hire someone to make it the way you want. This is not a car you put the key in and drive away. A template is like a house just a big shell, you have to fill it up with all your own junk. I.E., the term "TEMPLATE"
A "a rollover/drop-down" is just a method to display what you want. It can be done in css or javascript or many other languages.

Sure, that's one method. Remember you design a page the way you want it to look and then you create all the bells and interactions you like.

here is a great link to help you learn http://www.w3schools.com/
