My web browser of choice is Firefox but I always check my website using Internet Explorer as well. Did you know Firefox displays your website differently than Internet Explorer? I'm not sure which format is the one you prefer? With Firefox the URL Injection and Folders headings are not lined up and there is no white area. Working from top to bottom, here are some thoughts: 1. I'm not a big fan of having Ads by Google on your page, especially at the top where everyone's eyes go to first. Your telling your website visitors to look at other people's websites before they look at yours. If you must use Ads by Google, try putting them on the right side of your page or at the bottom. I have a bulleted list of human behavior on my site at http://eventurebiz.com/relaxcafe/entrepreneurs_lounge/index.htm. Keep these thoughts in mind while you are designing (or having your site designed for you) your site. 2. I agree with the others. The site looks too basic and boring. I'm confused with what URL Injection means and took me a few moments to figure it out. Consider rewording it to simply "Links." Everyone's use to that. 3. Define the purpose of your site immediately. "Warehouse Searcher" tells me nothing. When I read that I envision searching through a warehouse filled with boxes and maybe a fork lift nearby. If you can't change the name, simply put a short phrase under it to give it clear definition. Maybe "guides, hacks, tips, tricks, and tutorials." Make sure they are under a heading tag (font bigger than the text but smaller than the main title). 4. The "Security Release G." page doesn't show the two images. 5. All those links at the bottom of the page . . . useless. No one will look at them. The problem is this is a simple website with a HUGE cluster of "stuff" at the bottom that's confusing. Try to work those links in a different way. Maybe to help the website not be so basic, consider providing a breif explanation of most of the links you provide in the body? An image or two would help, too. 6. Right from the beginning there's a problem. The line "Welcome to the Warehouse Searcher project, this project was been build with the only purpose of storing cool stuff such as guides, hacks, tips & tricks, tutorials, etc so enjoy your stay." Should read as follows (you might need to add what kind of guides, hacks, tutorials, etc) ....... Welcome to the Warehouse Searcher Project. Here you will find the best guides, hacks, tutorials, tips, tricks, etc. on the Web. Click through, you never know what you might find!
I agree with the above poster... why not look for a template that suits your category.. and also your font size is too small..
Thanks Some of the tips are available at http://warehouse.co.nr/rapidshare.cataloguer.htm so i get the point. Thanks for your detailed information, i will take in consideration with the new template release. Also i'm linking back your website. Eventurebiz Hacxx
... I have redesigned a litle bit and add a bunch of content. If anyone interested visit it. http://warehouse.co.nr
When I first entered the site, the things were flashing before my eyes. Some images and text are still required there. IMHO, some different colors and shades should brighten up a bit. And.... I should strain my eyesight in order to read the text under the header, it's really hardly visible. By the way, when I click on any blue area, it automatically drops down, but how to roll it back then? And there is a problem with links inside the categories presented on the home page: clicking on some of them brings you back to the beginning of the site.
Yes i will have to work a bit on that. I created that by acident, i will have to research online for that Using firefox right? Some scripts aren't compatible with firefox therefore i simply added a browser detection/redirection script.
Oh, and one more thing.... forgot at all. You have this sentence:" Click through, you never know what you might find!" It's better to use statements rather than negative (or question) sentences. It would be better to say: Just browse and you will find exactly what you are looking for! or something like this....
it´s getting better all the time, but i would make a change in an aspect: when you click on a blue box it opens... you should make it also close when you re-click it... or else if someone opens all the blue boxes the page will expand and get very big, and very confuse... That´s just an opinion... keep up the good work
Hey hacxx0. That's funny you discovered how to create the drop-down menu by accident, that's happened to me before, too. I do agree with the others, you definitely need to work it so users can reclick the menu item so they close back up. Also, as with what Linx mentioned, I would consider rephrasing the "you never know what you might find!" statement to something more action oriented. Maybe consider saying "Click around and get connected!" or something. That would even work well with the picture you have. Here are two scripts, by the way, that will create the retractable menu: Script 1 Script 2 A couple other things I noticed: 1. Up at the top where it says "The best the net has to offer," the word "net" should be capitalized -- Net. Just like you capitalize Web. 2. In your first menu item, "Articles" the word useful is spelled wrong. It shows Usefull but it should be Useful. Also, Internet should be capitalized. 3. If you can't get the original page to work well with Firefox, consider either 86ing whatever it is that you're using that Firefox doesn't like or create an entirely new site which users of Firefox are redirected to (I think you said you were going to do something like that). Personally, I'd make things easy on me and just create a website that both IE and FF likes. The site has come a long way. It's looking A LOT better.
What do you think about placing navigation bar with drop down menus either in the left or right side of your homepage? I think it could help every site visitors understand what they can find at your information resource from the first sight. And you definitely should make a bigger font for the passage that implies the main idea of your site. It seems you’ve got a lot of useful information to share with the others and I think it’ll be easier for everyone to find exactly what he/she is looking for if you add a search form to your site. Success to your efforts!
I use firefox as well and the design looks strange. The page displays in black with the image in white, and then the links at the very bottom, each on their own white link with black spacing between the lines. But then I opened it in Microsoft Explorer and it looks fine. Firefox is a great web browser and free to download. View your page in both as eventurebiz sugessted. In exploror though it looks really good.
... Well, i decided to remove the text. Both use external javascript to make it moving and aren't compatible with Opera Browser. Mine is compatible with the 3B (ie ff and op) and i only use JS for graphics adaptation. HTML: <script type="text/javascript">if(navigator.userAgent.indexOf('browserhere')!=-1){hp_ok=false;document.write("htmlcodehere")}</script> Done
