Legacy Logo for a German football team

Hey guys,

I'm from Germany and really need help as I'm just not good in creating logos, emblems etc.

I established a football (soccer) team with my friends which needs a logo, of course. I tried a few hours, but it seems like I don't have the talent to do this.

So I found this site, saw the really great logos you already created and hope you can help me.

Here are the facts about the team.

1. and 2. The website for the team will be build when the logo is created, so the design of the site shall be build on the logo, not the other way round.

3. This are emblems I really like:


Derby County, because of the arrangement of the color(s) with the outline and the mascot


The Wolves, because of the simplicity


Just.. wow. Not really simple, but really amazing work. Much details..

So first of all the style of the english crests is really nice in my eyes.

4. The size of the logo should be high solution, because it shall be printed. Of course, we'll use a small version on our website in future.

5. Our mascot is a goat, so I found a license-free image of it:

But this is only an example, or better the only example I found in the internet. You can really be creative here, it just has to be a goat!

6. Our colors are red and white. You can use black and maybe gold or something, too (that's my idea, didn't talk about that with my teammates. So use it sparse, if you use it )

The team name is "HB Colonia" and it was established in 2009. Of course you can write the "2009" in the logo, but please don't use the "estimated" or "est.", because that's not common in Germany. So all in all, the text in the logo should be "HB Colonia" and "2009". Colonia is the ancient name for Cologne, so that's the city we come from. You could put in a stylized version of the two tops of our cathedral. We play in red shirts.

As we are a fun team, playing in fun leagues and cups only, the emblem needn't to look very serious. The goat could look a bit aggressive, if it's possible. But again, that's no need!

Okay, as I announced yesterday, I talked to my teammates today and we've thought about the design in detail.

First I have to mention that we still think it's great, without a doubt! So the basic design should definitely remain how it is.

However, there are a few things which could be a little modified to make the crest a bit more suitable for our team, especially for our shirts. Of course, and that's the important precondition, only if it's okay for you!

1. the color shade of the crest is a bit different to the color shade of our shirts. I've made a little graphic to show you what I mean (copied the idea from you ):



You'll get a second picture as a PM.
I don't know if the color difference will be a real problem when the crest is finally printed/embroidered, maybe you know more about this. If you think that it won't be a problem, just leave it how it is.

2. The shape of the cathedral. It's maybe a bit hard for you, because you don't know how it looks in reality, but I'll try to explain it. As you can see in the crest of 1. FC Köln, too, the "main construction" (don't find the right word) of the cathedral is the biggest part of the graphic, the tops are only a little part. You can see perfectly in this picture what I'm talking about:

So you can still use it, but please put in the lower part of the cathedral, too, and shorten the tops slightly. If you don't understand what I'm talking about with my limited ability of speaking and writing English, just ask

3. For a change an easy one , the color of the cathedral. Could you give it a try and make it black, please? In order that the cathedral is still silhouetted against the black outline then, you could put a small white or red line between them in the lower part of the crest.

Okay, that's all. I really hope it's not too much work for you, and again: If you can't do it or don't want it or whatever, that's no problem. The crest is great as it is. But with this little adjustments, it would be perfect!

P.S.: Ah, and of course: The goat is absolutely brilliant! I love it. It would be awesome if you could send me the goat exclusive, is this possible? I could use him as the mascot on our website in future then.
