My sit has several sections like a pet classifieds section. If I buy a domain name like bmcollpetclassifieds,com and redirect it to my classifieds section would it still get indexed? or would the search engines reject it because it was redirected. My host only allows one domain name unless I pay a lot more to have sub domains. But godaddy will redirect my names to a diff name for free.
It will index if you have a index file with the redirect code in it containing:: HTML: <metaname="Keywords" content="K/WORDS." /> <metaname="description" content="DESC."> <metaname="author" content="NAME"> <linkrev="made" href="EMAIL"> <metaname="copyright" content="NAME"> <metaname="revisit-after" content="1 Week"> <metaname="distribution" content="local"> <metaname="robots" content="all"> <metaname="rating" content="general"> <metahttp-equiv="content-language" content="en"> <metaname="verify-v1" content="YOUR GOOGLE KEY=" /> Google will index it, unless its just set to redirect via a control panel without having an files on the server.
The redirect would be done by godaddy I would have no control over the method so I guess the answer is no.
you do have access to your servers root directory - yes in note pad you create the file named .htaccess with the period and no extionsion. In it "you" place the HTTP 301 permanent redirect GoDaddy has nothing to do with it. about the pm I was looking at some of these icons. attached zip
I can only have 1 domain name on my hostgator account so I dont think I can redirect another domain name to the folders on my account with htaccess I use it to mod rewrite my php files as html so I understand what it is. Godaddy wil redirect any of my domain names to another url and let me add my own meta tags I should have checked that before my first post. I set up my other domain totradegames.com with the meta tags you r recommended and I will buy a few more like bmcollgames and bmcollpetads when money is ava.
If I can use htaccess and just set the dns pointer at godaddy do you know the format for the htaccess command? I am just learning it I only know how to use the mod rewrite so far.
Redirection with mod_rewrite http://httpd.apache.org/docs/trunk/mod/mod_rewrite.html Two Great examples: first one - explains the syntax "use the section Redirection with mod_rewrite nothing else..." http://www.somacon.com/p145.php second one - http://www.website-development-training.com/301/ if you ever want to change hosts i use Hostmonster unlimited bandwidth, sub-domains. It's shared hosting but I pay for the space one time on a 2 year contract and piggy-back as many domain names and subs as I want, only paying for the registration of the other names, first one is free. They are running a special right now $3.95 month @ 24 month contract. They have more features then HostGator. Oh! did I mention their uptime and speed is second to none. Also the first new name I register with GoDaddy to get their cheap price then when renewal comes up transfer to Hostmonster . The customer service explains things so you can understand it in english as they all live in Utah. They live and breathe servers, code and software. compare http://www.cheap-web-hosting-info.com/hosting_review.php?id=6
