Create a site using FreeWebsiteTemplates in 3 easy steps:

1 – Download w-CMS installer (install.zip) from w-CMS project site. Unpack it and upload install.php into a folder in your webhost and run it. Click on Install/Update w-CMS button. If no errors encountered you are ready for the next step; otherwise you may need to manually install w-CMS.

2 – Using the same procedure as above and install dnload.php in the same folder and run it.

3 – At the Designer dropdown selection box click on FreeWebsiteTemplates then click on Go button and a new page will be shown with a Template dropdown selection box. At the Template dropdown selection box click on the desired template and then click on Download button.

If no errors encountered a site using the selected template will be created. The name of the site is in the following format: fwt_template where template is name of the template; example fwt_night_club_2. To access the site you simply include the site name when entering the URL – example, http://w-cms.org/fwt/fwt_night_club_2

Good instructions, but pictures or illustrations would help
If I am a beginner, what is CMS (Computer Maintenance System - there is such a thing)
What should I name the folder
I am thinking of nubees, they need help (pictures are good - pictures with instructions are great)

    hope this helps

Thanks falcon for the suggestion. I made an attempt of writing up some tutorials on how to use this CMS but so far I'm not getting any feedbacks. I don't know if this is due to lack of interest using this CMS or there were no problems in using it. Writing and graphic design are not my forte so those are the best I can come up with. w-CMS is open source, anyone helps out will be greatly appreciated.

Don't worry, most do not know how to build a good tutorial, especially with pictures or graphics. A good tutorial published in many ezines will draw visitors to your site. I will be glad to help (assist)

Thanks guys for offering helps. I’ll take any suggestions on improving the system as well as correcting errors found. Hand-on assistance would be better as I most likely can’t do the parts that are graphic related.

As I have mentioned, w-CMS is open source; I welcome FWT to sponsor this project - Mimoun??? I’ve started converting the FWT templates into themes where sites can be built by using the steps as described in the first post here. So far I have converted about twenty. I planned on converting all.

To get feedback, you need to encourage people and give them something.
    -
Which graphic or picture goes best with these instructions, or what instructions goes best with these pictures. Pick A. B or C. What would you add or need to make it easier to understand.
    -
Make up some questions and responses to start. Most people do not want to be first. They need some guidance.
    -
Those who respond, I will send them (via email) the upgrades of the tutorial before publishing for their review.

    For photos in http://w-cms.org/fwt/fwt_night_club_2
you can use this CSS menu builder
    CSS Menu Generator
(try it you may like it)
    I use it here (example)
RedCrab Calculator v3 Plane Geometry Examples with answers and Ref.
    (shameless plug)
Will send some more info (waiting for your response)
You want your tutorial good enough for DMOS directory.
    That will bring traffic

All I can say is w-CMS is 3 easy steps less than the Famous 5-Minute Install of WordPress which is 6 typed written steps. (plus you have to setup your database first)

Worked just like tomw posted. ;)

The three steps are for creating a site using templates from FWT. If you just want to install w-CMS the first step will do.

You are not older than me. I knew Moses by his first name. I knew Nefertari was a beautiful woman. And I knew slave labor was hard by experience.

I heard it when the words “Let there be light” were first spoken.:D

Hey Falcon, if you are interested in testing and using w-CMS I would be more than happy to convert your site to run on it. I can set it up in your server or my. Perhaps you can write up a tutorial once you understand the whole process. What do you say?

Great! Lets get started. First install w-CMS in a folder that will be using for the conversion. Once this is completed you can decide whether or not to use it.

Here is the How to instruction for the installation.
