    Hello to all,

We are a bunch of mechanical engineers who are starting a man lift company. We looked at all the competitors and say a potential competitive advantage - the present ones are boring, generic, and mostly just cased fonts. We are looking for a logo that has no writing, but can accommodate future text - we will add later for different regional markets.

We were looking for a logo that would look good flame cut on a big piece (So not intricate) but can be made into stickers for hard hats - so clear and recognizable. We have almost no artistic skill off of a cad scope, but envision a dragon or dinosaur head lifting a man in profile.

Stronger and simpler colors that would be common in many cultures - red, black, blue, etc.

    Thanks ever so much!

    Kim

Hi and welcome to FWT Kim. Looks like a pretty interesting project! This image came to mind, except that you wanted a man in place of the rock:
fredcrane.gif Anyway, please read our graphic request rules thread and then reply to this post with your answers to the questions in it. This will help our designers come up with something that's as close to what you're looking for as possible. :)

    Dear Dawn,

Thank you ever so much for your work on the site. Also, please forgive us for less than complete information.

Your comments are too funny. Fred helped us with our ideas…. We have products called rough terrain extended reach lifts… much like Fred on the Dinosaur. We also have work platforms, which is like when fred is lifted by the dinosaur. Our competitors are boring names – Kalmar, JLG, Genie (which does not have a logo and is a soft for many customers), and so on.

    1) What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

We have a series of related products that can be linked together… Landon Lift, Landon work platform, etc.

2)What is your website address (ex: http:/site .com/; Site Name)?

    Landonlift.com
    3) Description of your website or business:

Our business needs to influence three very different types of people: Sourcing People, Engineers, and Construction Labors. Something like a dragon logo can presented well to each of these groups. A dragon can be fun for each of these. Landon has a link for the “super geeky”, it can be used for comic fun, and it can relate to the guys in the field.

We want it to imply strength and stability, and have room for fun.
4)Search the Internet for any logos/designs on the web that you feel conveythe style you are looking for?

Most of the art on the web looks too complicated to be seen well on equipment, in print, on the web, and on hard hats or t-shirts. At the start of Bedrock, we saw Fred slide down the dinosaur tail and be lifted up.
    5)Requested size of your logo:

We want a crisp image, but would work on low resolution.

6)Do you have any images/photos that can be used for the logo? (must be copyright free)

We do not have the perfect image. We hired an artist that made a delicate image. We were to the point of giving up, and saw your site offering some hope.
7)What logo styles do you like (text only, image only, text and image, etc.)?

We would like an image only.

8)What colors do you want to see in your logo?Basic colors would be preferred – were we can make a vector image or later a family of images.
9)What colors do you NOT want to see in your logo?

Some of our marketing will include messages similar to “Don’t trust the pretty ones”… “It’s might not be pretty” for fun for work clothes and hardhats.
10)Describe the target audience for your logo

Sourcing managers – office people, engineers, and construction workers.
11)What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?

Strength, Stability, Power, and some fun… we are a really old 3-year-olds, so the homage to the Fred Flinstone is fun.
    12) Where will your logo be used (print, website, etc.)?

Print, Web, Brocures, Hardhats, work clothes.
13)Do you have other info or links you want to share?

Wish we had more to help.
14)Finally we need is there a style font you prefer, please let us know.

    Something strong.

Thanks ever so much for the work.

    Many blessings to you all!

Did somebody say homage? Thanks for the additional information, Kim. Interesting insight into your creative process and how having fun with art, pop culture and even cartoons can inspire more serious inventions or practical ideas! I've always loved the Flintstones' imaginative use of dinosaur-powered technology :D

Anyway, I'm sure our designers will be able to come up with something suitable for you soon. Do stick around and enjoy our forum in the meantime, and don't forget to help others out where you are able :)

    Dear Dawn,

Thanks. I look forward to seeing the results. I am working to be a good community member by helping on a couple of soccer logo people... and will try on other projects as well. In the meantime, if you need help with a math problem or other profoundly geeky things, please let me know.

    Many blessings and countless thanks!

    Sean,

First, you Rock! It seems to be a party foul for me to have given up so quick! Yet, you kept with it! You are my hero!

Second, can we collaborate some. We we wrestling with a "harder" logo and was thinking of only the head portion of a sister brand's logo (The construction worker population and engineers both seem to be fond of the logo):

Can you help place your man on the head and maybe come up with a body to go with it? If possible, an outline of a man would be easier on the printer - some items are printed on relative thin/cheap material.

Also, please email me at kanderson@landonltd.com, I wish to thank you again for your work and potentially send a small token.

    Many blessings to you!

    Kim

    Wow, those are amazing!

    Thank you ever so much.

You have already done much more than we could expect, but may I ask for more? If so, please make one (of more) of the following:

    Front view of the face, with a scar on the face... there's a story to go with the scar. This would be for stickers and toys;
    One with the head pushing on something heavy;
One of the head facing forward with wings spread - almost if it was looking over a box or marque. This would be used in print adds.

Also please email where me send a small token of appreciation.

    Many Blessings!
