Hello everyone. I'm just starting off and I'm soooo over my head on this. I have so many questions I don't even know where to begin. The only thing I have done as of yet, is I locked in a domain name at Go Daddy. What I am trying to accomplish is, to start a forum. If anyone could give me any advice or opinions on hosting sites and templates it would be greatly APPRIECATED.

    Thank you in advance.

Well, if you're just running forums, you wouldn't need that much file space at all as forums don't really required space for the posts and are stored in a mysql database.

So, you're going to want to look for hosting that has a decent amount of file space, but not a enormous amount that's going to be way over what you need. You're also going to want hosting that's going to allow you to use MySql Databases as they're required for your forums to run.

I currently use HostGator as my hosting with a Hatchling plan. They just recently changed the file space and bandwith to Unlimited, which suites me well as if my own site kicks off, I'm gonna need a whole lot of bandwith.

Anyway, You'll prolly want to do some searching on what providers include what plans in their packages and how much they cost. You can normally get a cheaper rate if you pay so many months/years in advance.

Just make sure you get something with MySQL Enabled.

Now, if you wanna talk forums next, let me know or email me and I'll be more then happy to help you with that.

I think Go Daddy and most other webhosts offer forums as basic CGIs located in our control panel. If you don't see it, call Godaddy Tech Support. If they do not have it, 1 & 1 has a free forum builder.
