I don't understand who owns the copyright to the images

Hello,

I have concerns about the usage of the images in your free website templates.

Where have these images been sourced?
Are they all royalty-free, copyright-free images?

I know someone who had a website that was using Getty images. He was not aware that the developer had used them without paying appropriate usage fees and he was made to pay thousands of dollars in penalties.

What assurance do I have that I can legally build a website with the provided free templates incuding images without fear of getting slapped with a copyright violation?
